SCULPTURES BY TOM OTTERNESS IN
THE 14TH STREET SUBWAY STATION
OF THE A/C/E LINE IN NEW YORK CITY

~

I really like the sculptures by Tom Otterness in the 14th street subway station.
It is a neat idea to put art there where people have the time to look at it,
including people who do not usually go to art exhibits.
When you are waiting for the train,
looking at the sculptures is a nice way to pass the time.

I particularly enjoy how the sculptures are integrated into the subway station,
how some of the sculptures use the environment as part of the theme.
Here, for example, if it wasn't for the subway gate,
you wouldn't get the idea that the guy lying on the floor is
actually escaping from something (perhaps a burglar leaving a house?).
