First Day

Each lichen is a symbiosis between a species of alga and a species of fungi.

Second Day

Of the five days we were in Montana, the second day
was pretty much the only day with good weather

Orange and grey lichens on beige rock

Orange, white, and grey lichens on pink rock.

Yellow-green lichens and brown moss on pink rock.
I loved the three-dimensional structure of the layered rock.
